Museo de arte contemporanea en Quito

Yesterday Susana, Pamela, Tori and I went to the museum, while the boys went to the pool with Ricardo and Mateo.

Installation with living ants in the glass monters, moving back and forth on the white strips bringing with them pieces of leaves that they hav carved out. Fast little buggers that were hard to get in focus. 

The museum is in the old, renovated Military Hospital of Quito. 

The hospital was built in early 20th century, consisting of separate pavillions, maybe inspired by the miasma theories like our hospital Ullevål in Oslo. La Basilica in the background.

Noni

A special treat for grandma Tone Mali in Lyngdal, who has been importing Noni juice from Cook Islands on the other side of the Pacific Ocean for several years. Pictures from the garden outside the house we rented in Puerto Ayora, Santa Crux, Galapagos. The tree is goodlooking, but the fruit looks just as bad as its juice tastes:

Las plazas

On the day of New Year's eve we first went to Plaza Sur, one of the islands with remaining land iguanas. They and the sea iguanas live so close that they occasionally interbreed. But the offspring is sterile, like the mule. After Plaza we anchored up in the stretch between Santa Cruz and Baltra, where we did some amazing snorkeling. The water crystal clear and a lot to see: Colourful aquarium fish, two sharks and a sea turtle.

Blue-footed Boobie, the subject of many souvenir T-shirts trying to make a humorous point of its name, as you can imagine. The most common: "I love boobies".
